Call for Papers
Under the guiding theme of Go Green – Go Smart the specific focus for 2018 is “Implementing and Managing Integrated and Sustainable Transport Systems by aligning Transport, Land-use and Economic Planning”.
Date and Venue
The i-Transport & UATP Go Green – Go Smart Transport Conference will be hosted on 13 – 15 June 2018 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, conveniently situated mid-way between Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa.
The Conference and the Exhibition will run parallel over 2 days and delegates will have the option of participating in post-conference Master Classes or a Site Visit for a hands-on experience.
The Wednesday morning session (13 June) will be a Plenary Session with the focus on Policies and Strategy with invited speakers.
The Wednesday afternoon will be dedicated to a Plenary Session with three themes for
- Public Transport;
- Intelligent Transport Systems; and
- Infrastructure and Funding.
The three parallel streams will continue with morning and afternoon sessions on Thursday (14 June).
Abstracts must not be longer than 300 words and have the topic on the top and the preferred stream (Public Transport, ITS and/or Infrastructure/Funding) on a second line. The name(s) and author(s) will be submitted separately to enable a blind review.
The abstract must clearly indicate “the problem/challenge” the presentation deals with and reflect on how this problem/challenge was addressed and the solution that was implemented. Abstracts must show “innovation” and “problem-solving” and NOT be a “sales pitch” for products or systems. The name(s) and CV(s) of the author(s) must be submitted as a separate document(s).
Abstracts accepted will be arranged per stream (Public Transport, ITS or Infrastructure/Funding) and per theme. Examples of typical session themes could be (in no particular order) Public Transport Operations and Maintenance, Funding Mechanisms, Advanced Public Transport Management Systems, Passenger Services, Automated Fare Collection (AFC), Future Payment Solutions, Modal Integration, Mobility as a Service (MaaS), Traffic Management, Law Enforcement/Road Safety, Telematics/ Big Data, Connected Vehicles, Smart Cities/Green Transport, Sustainability/Procurement, and so on.
After requests for an extension, the deadline for abstract submissions is 15 November 2017, and authors will get notification by mid January 2018. After acceptance of the abstract, we will require a presentation, not a full paper.

A panel of respected industry representatives will conduct a blind review of the abstracts submitted and make their recommendations to the i-Transport&UATP Programme Committee to comply the final programme.
